Kate is an Irish illustrator based in Dublin. She studied Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin and qualified with a BA in Fine Art. Although Kate enjoyed studying fine art, she knew it was not the right career choice for her and wanted to complete further study in illustration. Kate spent some time volunteering as an illustrator for Fighting Words, a company who provide creative writing tutoring for children. Being surrounded by imagination, stories, drawing and fun, Kate realised illustrating children’s books is the path she wants to follow in her professional life.
Kate is a recent graduate from the MA in Children’s Book Illustration at The Cambridge School of Art. Kate loves to create fun, humorous characters and quirky stories. She works with a variety of different mediums and processes including screen printing, digital, pencil, watercolour and ink.
Recently, Kate won third place in the Carmelite prize 2017 for illustrating a text by acclaimed author Rachel Bright.
